Take Five

Today I want you to take five minutes to think about your life and all the reasons you have to be grateful. That is approximately 0.003% of your day. You can take the time to do this.

I will guide you through it. Whether you want to state these things in your head, out loud, or write them down is up to you.

First I want you to take a deep breath. Breathe in for four counts, hold for four counts, breathe out for eight counts.

Now that you have set the tone for a clear head space I want you to think of what you are grateful for in a few different categories.

First up is people. Who in your life are you grateful for and why? It would be amazing to reach out to the people you are grateful for and to let them know that you are thankful for them, it could really make their day.

Second category is shelter. Do you have a place to live you are grateful to have? Do you have more than one place you can call home? Do you have a place to sleep and live where you feel comfortable? Having a place to live that is comfortable is a luxury and should not go unnoticed.

Third category is nutrition. Do you have the resources to buy food to fuel your body? Do you have the opportunity to choose what and when you want to eat? Do you have supplements you take? Not everyone has food to eat every day so if you get to choose what you eat you are truly blessed.

Fourth category is objects. What do you have that you are very grateful to own? I am grateful to have various technological devices, a car, and a bike. I am also grateful to have plants.

Fifth and final category is self. What are you grateful for about yourself? I am grateful to have the work ethic I do and that I stand up for what I believe in.

Doing this little exercise doesn’t have to be time consuming. This should be quick and easy and really make you look at all the beautiful blessings you have in your life.

Any day you are alive you are given another chance to chase your dreams and make your mark on the world.

I encourage you to take the time to state what you are grateful for and to remind the people in your life how much they mean to you.

Keep being the best you you possibly can be!

  1. Thank you, Hannah! Thank you for reminding me to take time to think about all of the things that I am grateful for. I take so much for granted. I feel at peace when I am concentrating on gratitude. I feel rejuvenated to move forward with my day, knowing that I have so much to be thankful for. You are an amazing young lady.
